The people in this picture are not taking part in a
comedy/action flick. No, it's just the way things are
in an overpopulated country like India. When it gets
beyond standing-room-only inside, people unquestioningly
risk their lives riding the trains on the outside as they go
about their daily commute. I often traveled with my legs
dangling outside the train when faced with similar space
shortages. It was fun and dangerous and very windy, but
at least I could smoke without offending other passengers.
Yesterday hundreds of rail passengers in Bihar got more
than they had bargained for when the driver of their train
asked them to get out and push.
