Working on Staying At Home

Australian cartoon from http://www.inkcinct.com.au/

As Mothers' Day approaches Sunday, May 13th, take a
moment to ponder these mind-boggling $ amounts,
courtesy of a new Salary.com survey via Yahoo news :

A typical American stay-at-home Mom (a.k.a. the average
American housewife) who attends to daily 'chores' such
as housekeeper, cook, day care center teacher, laundry
machine operator, van driver, facilities manager, janitor
and computer operator would be earning $138, 095 annually
- if she were to be paid at the going rate for performing
those routine tasks.

But she doesn't get paid that amount, she just keeps on doing
what's required of her all year 'round. Gratis.

26,000 stay-at-home mothers and 14,000 mothers who also
work outside the home responded to a survey at Salary.com Inc.,
and in doing so have left us with another good to reason to beef
up our salutations this Mother's Day. Show some love by letting
her know that you know that she's really worth more than all the
figures and surveys they can come up with.
